Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

Please provide

(a) the number of motorists who have paid recovery and storage charges to retrieve their stolen vehicles, and

(b) the amount of money motorists have paid in recovery and storage charges to retrieve their stolen vehicles, by your police force in each year since the current statutory charges were set in 2008? 

In Response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention. 

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Finance Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held in part by Northumbria Police. 

Please note that we only hold records for complete years from 2010, therefore, we no information held for previous years. 

*Additionally, we do not hold the number of motorists as the number  of ‘Recoveries  ‘ in the table will include the  Owners, Finance Companies and Insurance companies.
