Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

Please can you supply the below in relation to Travel Warrants issued by your force custody's.

2018 & 2019 to date.

Can this be broken down per custody suite, detail the date of issue, origin, destination, reason for issue (within limitation), cost to the force and if this was issued for a person following release from custody or if custody issued the warrant for another reason.

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Custody Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

 

Northumbria Police introduced a scheme around July 2018 to ensure vulnerable people can get home. Money has been given from a petty cash float at Northern Area Command, to 59 detainees totalling £397.66. Information relating to date, origin, destination and reason for issue is not in a recordable format therefore cannot be provided.

Central Area Command and Southern Area Command do not have a petty cash float nor issue travel warrants.
