Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

I would like to find out where all the spare parts for all the police cars go?
I know some forces send unwanted used/unused spare car parts (spare wheels, parcel shelf's, servicing items etc) to auction.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Fleet Management Unit of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.
Northumbria Police disposes of used / unused parts in a number of ways :-
After maintenance work has been carried out on vehicles at the police workshop, used parts which have been replaced are disposed of via force contracts for waste disposal.
If parts are no longer required, for example parts held in stock for a vehicle type no longer operated, that surplus stock will be returned to the supplier for re-sale elsewhere.
If parts are removed from vehicles as part of the initial process to convert it for police use, those parts will be sent to auction using the national framework contract for that purpose.
