Driving Offence Committed By Foreign Nationals - 375/20

Date Responded 18 March 2020

Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

In Response:

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

The caveats below should be noted when viewing the information provided:

  • As with any personal data, there may be records that have not been completed.  This is more likely wherein an arrest has not occurred.
  • This data is based on disposals rather than arrests, as many motoring offences are non-notifiable.  As such, there will be instances wherein one offence has led to multiple disposals - eg, there will be a large number of instances wherein one person has been counted multiple times someone being pulled over for speeding, then the officer finding that they have no insurance, no MOT and are under the influence of drink or drugs would result in the person being counted four times, not once.
