AIM OF POLICY: To explain the routing of telephone calls under Airwave.
BENEFIT OF POLICY: The policy will provide protection, openness and the relevant levels of security.
REASON FOR POLICY: To ensure the appropriate levels of protection and security are applied when recording radio and telephone communications.
DESCRIPTION OF POLICY:
In order to provide protection, openness and the relevant levels of security:

All radio and telephone communications to and from the Communications Centres will be recorded.

Telephone calls to or from the digital Tetra radio terminals will be routed through the Airwave infrastructure and into the Northumbria Police telephone infrastructure.

Telephone calls to or from the digital Tetra radio terminals will not be recorded (with the exception of those to or from consoles within the Communications Centres).
