AIM OF POLICY: To explain the routing of telephone calls under Airwave.

BENEFIT OF POLICY: The policy will provide protection, openness and the relevant levels of security.

REASON FOR POLICY: To ensure the appropriate levels of protection and security are applied when recording radio and telephone communications. 


DESCRIPTION OF POLICY:

 In order to provide protection, openness and the relevant levels of security:

  • All radio and telephone communications to and from the Communications Centres will be recorded.

  • Telephone calls to or from the digital Tetra radio terminals will be routed through the Airwave infrastructure and into the Northumbria Police telephone infrastructure.

  • Telephone calls to or from the digital Tetra radio terminals will not be recorded (with the exception of those to or from consoles within the Communications Centres).
