Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

  1. The number of officers in Northumbria police force who have been placed under investigation or the commencement of disciplinary action in connection with an unlawful, disproportionate or inappropriate use of police powers under the Coronavirus Act 2020 since its effect.
  2. The names of any officers who are subject to investigation or the commencement of disciplinary action under point (1), and the date on which the investigation was first logged.
  3. The outcome of any disciplinary action under point (1), including any sanctions.

In Response:

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Professional Standards Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is no held by Northumbria Police.

  1. 0 – we hold no information specific to your request.

2&3. As the response to Q1 above is negative we are unable to provide a response to these parts of our request. Had any information been held, it would have attracted the exemption outlined in Section 40 of the Act.
