Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1. The total number of sexual harassment complaints received by your force for the calendar years 2018, 2019 and 2020, relating to police officers, from staff members and members of the public
2. The number of individual police officers to which the above relates
3. The total number of officers who received management action as a result
4. The total number of officers who received disciplinary action for misconduct as a result
5. The total number of officers who retired or resigned after a complaint was lodged
6. The total number of officers who were dismissed as a result

In Response:

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Professional Standards Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

The following data was taken from a database, which is a live system and may be subject to change after the initial extraction of data used for the purposes of this report, data has been checked for sexual harassment reports recorded between the period 01/01/18 – 31/12/21 this may not necessarily be when the incident took place.
Results included within Q1 & 2 will not match the numbers in the following questions as not all resulted in an outcome requested in these questions, also included are allegations that were subsequently withdrawn by the complainant or where the disapplication process has been applied, a number of cases may still be live and under investigation therefore this may change the results in questions 3, 4, 5 and 6 at a later date.
