Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
Please can you tell me how many formal complaints female Met officers have made regarding sexual discrimination or sexual harassment at work over the last three years (to the present day)?
For each complaint, please can you give me:
a) details about / a description of the complaint
b) the outcome of the complaint
c) the current employment status of the officer(s) being complained about including if they are suspended
d) the current employment status of the complainant
On 23 March we sought clarity on your submission and you responded on 14 April with the below clarification to our queries:
I mean complaints made by female Northumbria police officers and staff against Northumbria police officers and staff.
And I mean the three years 23 March 2018 to 23 March 2021
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Professional Standards Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
I am able to disclose the located information to with the following caveats noted:
• To note the data has been provided in a format which avoids the use of exemptions to withhold.
• Data has been checked for complaints of sexual discrimination or sexual harassment at work which have been recorded on a live system and may be subject to change after the initial extraction of data used for the purposes of this report.
• Results include allegations made against serving Northumbria Police Officers, and may contain historical allegations which have been reported and recorded during the time frame of this request, not necessarily the time of the incident, all alleged reports have been counted regardless of the outcome of any investigation and include cases that have been subsequently withdrawn by the complainant or where the disapplication process has been applied.
There is one such allegation that fits the specific criteria of this request:
It is alleged that male officer behaved in a manner which has caused female officer to feel distressed and uncomfortable.
