Date Responded 26 July 2018

Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1.       The number of reported ATM thefts at convenience stores in your constabulary for the year 2006.

2.       The number of reported ATM thefts at convenience stores in your constabulary for the year 2007.

3.       The number of reported ATM thefts at convenience stores in your constabulary for the year 2016.

4.       The number of reported ATM thefts at convenience stores in your constabulary for the year 2017.

After we sought clarity you advised:

I am referring to ATM machines being stolen.

Could you provide data on premises categorised under ‘stores,’ ‘mini market’ and shop?’

In Response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is not held by Northumbria Police.

As there is no specific HO code for thefts of ATM machines searches have had to be carried out on force system for  thefts where the 'type' is either 'cash dispenser' or 'ATM'.  Each return had to be manually reviewed to establish if any referred to ATM machines being stolen.  The result of that review was nil.
