Date Responded 07 March 2018

Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1. The number of reports of bicycle thefts.

a. Please include any details of the model / price of bike

b. Please also highlight the number of cases, if any that mention "Strava", "Facebook", "twitter" "Instagram" or "fitness tracker app".

Could I please have the data for the past three years, starting with the most up-to-date data.

Could you please sort the data by year.

In Response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

The attached information was collated by searching crimes created between 01/01/2015 and 31/12/2017 for 'stealing pedal cycles' and 'taking or riding a pedal cycle without consent.' Also included is a list of all makes of bike as they are recorded on the make section of the property screen of the crime and the value of the theft. There are more pedal cycles than crimes because one crime may involve the theft of more than one pedal cycle.

I am therefore able to disclose the located information to you as attached.
