Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
You asked:
- How many people were charged with possession of a bladed article or possession of an offensive weapon in public in Newcastle city centre in 2018 and (so far) 2019.
- The location (street) of the incidents.
- The property description of the weapon.
- The age of the person charged.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.
To provide a response to this submission searched were carried out for the number of disposals issued for possession of a bladed article or offensive weapon between 1st January 2018 and 31st August 2019 for Newcastle city centre (E6).
To fully answer this FOI each disposal and associated custody / crime and incident was then viewed to retrieve the data needed to answer the questions posed.
The data has been provided in a disassociated order to avoid exemption being applied.
