As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
You asked:
1. How many burglaries have been reported to your force in the current year to date, and for every calendar year since 2010.
2. How many burglaries have been attended by members of your Force for the current year to date, and for every calendar year since 2010.
3. Please can you provide the waiting times for officers or staff from your Force to attend a burglary for the current year to date, and for every calendar year since 2010.
4. How many police stations have closed in your Force Area since 2010?
5. How many front counters have closed in your Force Area since 2010?
In Response:
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held in part by Northumbria Police.
I am able to disclose the located information to you with the below caveats to be noted as follows.
• For points 1-3 we only hold the data in an easily retrievable format from 1 January 2017. To go back to 2010 would have made this submission subject to a Section 12 refusal. Rather than refuse we have supplied the information we can supply as below.
• For points 1-3 the following offences were taken into account:
- Burglary in a dwelling (excluding attempted, distraction and attempted distraction burglary)
- Burglary in a dwelling (excluding attempted, distraction and attempted distraction burglary)
- Burglary in a dwelling (excluding attempted, distraction and attempted distraction burglary)
- Aggravated burglary in a dwelling Burglary in a building other than a dwelling (OTD)
- Burglary in a building other than a dwelling (OTD)
- Aggravated burglary in a building other than a dwelling
• It should be noted that not all burglaries are visited, offences where the building was a shed and the value of the burglary was low can be dealt with by means of a phone call, each call will be dealt with according to the individual circumstances, however it is the Force policy that all houses that are burgled do have a visit from an officer.
• For point 3 it should be noted that the time an Officer visits the victim is at the victims discretion
