Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

  1. How many classic cars have been reported stolen to your police force so far in 2018?
  2. How many classic cars were reported stolen to your police force between 2017 and 2009? Please provide a year-by-year breakdown.
  3. How many stolen cars (of any age) has your police force recovered so far this year, and between 2017 and 2009? Please provide a year-by-year breakdown.
  4. What was the total number of cars, of all ages, reported stolen to your police force in 2018 (to date), and from 2017 to 2009? Please provide a year-by-year breakdown.

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held in part by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

1. and 2.  We cannot accurately identify what is or is not a classic car as the age of the vehicle that has been stolen is not recorded.
