Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

In the period 260717 to 250718 please provide information as follows:

1. How many people were either charged , cautioned , reported for summons or any other disposal for the offence of coercive control ?

2. How many of the above were women ?

3. If any were women , how many were from same sex relationships?

In Response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

The below are the number of disposals given to people for engaging in controlling / coercive behaviour in an intimate / family relationship.   We have provided the number of disposals therefore if the same person has been given more than one disposal, they will be counted more than once.

For question 2, 9 of the disposals from question 1 were issued to women.  One woman received 2 disposals
