Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

Could you please provide details of every case charged under the Coronavirus Act 2020 from the date the Act came into force until the most recent date for which figures are available.

In each case could you please provide the offences charged and the outcome.

Could you please indicate whether any of these cases have been, or are being reviewed, and, where they have been, provide details of the outcome.

In Response:

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

However, the following caveats should be noted in regards to the data supplied below:

  • This information runs up to and including 13 April 2020.
  • Please be aware that this covers cases wherein a case has been charged at least partially under this act.  The primary reason for the charge may be an alternate offence.

All cases are reviewed through the charging process and at present the charges remain in place.
