Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

  1. I would like to know the number of crimes reported at the Stadium of Light, in Sunderland, from September 2016 to date. If possible could you include any crimes within 20m, though should this be too broad please restrict this. I would like the information to be broken down on a monthly basis and categorised by crime.
  2. I would like to know the number of crimes reported at St James' Park, Newcastle, from September 2016 to date. If possible could you include any crimes within 20m, though should this be too broad please restrict this. I would like the information to be broken down on a monthly basis and categorised by crime.

In Response:

The data has been taken from the central database using the crime table,  it was then plotted on the map and a 20m buffer drawn around the curtilage of the stadia.  All the crimes that fell within the boundary of the buffer were included.  It should be noted that the inclusion of the 20m buffer will mean that crimes that do not relate to the stadia will have been included.  It should not be taken that these crimes can be attributed to football matches as these venues may have been used for purposes other than hosting football matches in the time period requested.

If you decide to write an article / use the enclosed data we would expect that you to take into consideration the factors highlighted above so as not to mislead members of the public or official bodies or misrepresent the relevance of the whole or any part of this disclosed material.
