Crimes on Halloween - 796/18

Date Responded 22 August 2018

Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1. I would like to know the number of crimes (e.g. - burglary, shop thefts, violence, Anti Social Behaviour) made by your force on 31st October 2017, Halloween. Broken down by each area you cover please.

2. The statistics from the last five years (2012-2017) of the number of arrests that have been made on October 31

In Response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

With the below in mind, I am able to disclose the located information to you as attached.

The data has been taken from the central database, using the crime, incident and arrest tables.

Although your request has asked for crimes, anti-social behaviour would be an incident.  Therefore, I have included those in a separate table.   Additionally, as you were not specific in the statistics you would like to see regarding arrests, I have used the same criteria as question 1.
