Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1. The number of arrests made for being drunk and disorderly in a public place in Newcastle in the years 2015/16, 2016/17, and 2017/18.

2. The 10 streets where arrests for being drunk and disorderly in a public place in Newcastle were made most frequently in the years 2015/16, 2016/17, and 2017/18 and the number of arrests made for each location in each year.

3. The 10 dates on which arrests were made most frequently for being drunk and disorderly in a public place in Newcastle in the years 2015/16, 2016/17, and 2017/18

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

Data was collated through a search of all arrests in the relevant sectors of Newcastle  for disorderly behaviour in any public place while drunk during the given time periods. The offence location was used to answer Q2. The locations are manually input by officers and therefore there will be variations in spelling/abbreviations etc. Common abbreviations such as st (street) and avn (avenue) have been allowed for when obtaining a total for each street, however due to the numbers it is not possible to check every record within the time limit, therefore there may be discrepancies in the data provided.

 If you decide to write an article / use the enclosed data we would expect that you to take into consideration the factors highlighted above so as not to mislead members of the public or official bodies or misrepresent the relevance of the whole or any part of this disclosed material.
