Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

From 01/01/2020 to 31/01/2023, how many domestic homicide offences, where a partner (and please state their gender) was killed by their current or former partner (please state their gender), have been recorded by your police force?

In Response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Crime Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

• To note, on this occasion we have identified no harm in providing , however it should not be taken that will be the case should similar future submissions be made.

During the period specified that have been 6 offences which meet the criteria of your request:

In 4 offences the suspect was male, and the victim was female.

In 1 offence the suspect was male, and the victim was male.

In 1 offence the suspect was female, and the victim was male.
