Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1 How many arrests in connection with drug driving offences your force made between March 2015 and June 2018, broken down by month.

2 How many people your force charged with drug driving offences  between March 2015 and June 2018, broken down by month. 

In Response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention. 

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police. 

With the below in mind, I am able to disclose the located information to you as attached. 

Included in the data are the number of arrests for the below offences - these have been separated out between those where it is clear the offence relates to drugs and those where it is unclear whether the offence relates to drink or drugs: 

803/01 DRIVE/ATTEMPT WHILST UNFIT-DRINK/DRUGS (UNCLEAR WHICH)

803/04 IN CHARGE OF M\V WHILST UNFIT - UNCLEAR DRINK OR DRUGS

803/10 DRIVE OR ATTEMPT TO DRIVE M\V WHILST UNFIT – DRUGS

803/12 IN CHARGE OF VEHICLE WHILST UNFIT THROUGH DRUGS

803/13 DRIVE MV PROPORTION OF CONTROLLED DRUG ABOVE LIMIT

803/14 AID & ABET DRIVE MV WITH PROP CONTOLLED DRUG OVER LIMIT

803/15 IN CHARGE MV WITH PROP OF SPEC DRUG OVER SPEC LIMIT 

803/16 ATT DRIVE MV WITH PROP OF SPEC CONTRLD DRUG OVER LIMIT 

The data for the second question includes disposals of charge, postal requisition and summons, given during the specified years for the above offences.
