Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

I wish to know details of all people who have been arrested for hate crime offences over the past five years.

Providing the following by each financial year (2013-14, 14-15, 15-16, 16-17, 17-18) can you list first :


  1. the arrested person's age
  2. then their gender
  3. the type of hate crime (race, religion, disability etc.)
  4. whether they were charged
  5. and, only if this is possible, any details you have available on the crime itself; whether online/in person, verbal / physical etc.

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

To avoid your full request being refused due to Section 12 being applicable for time/costs considerations, we have discounted point 5 as per your instruction.
