Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
You asked:
I would like to know the number of racially motivated hate crimes by neighborhood (or alternatively, local authority district) by year in each calendar year from 2004 to 2018 (or all the available years in this period for which the information is available).
In Response:
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted within Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.
The data has been taken from the central database using the crime table where there is a flag in the racial column.
Up until the 01/04/2007 Prudhoe, Morpeth, Hexham, Berwick and Alnwick were classed as Rural Northumberland.
We only have data available from 1 April 2005 and therefore that is what we have provided in the attachment.
