Knife crime in schools - 293/19

Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

The number of reports of the "offence of having article with blade or point on school premises" where the suspect was under 18.

Please provide figures for the following academic years (1 September to 31 July), broken down by age of suspect and local authority area.

In Response:

Searches have been completed  using the central database to collate data using the HO Code 008/62 "offence of having article with blade or point on school premises"  for the date range provided.

Please note some of the individuals who have been included  in the data set were initially reported as the suspect but later eliminated from the crime.

It should not be taken that these incidents occurred during school opening times as they may have occurred when the schools were closed.
