Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1. The number of reports of the "offence of having article with blade or point on school premises" where the suspect was under 18. 

Please provide figures for the 2018/19 academic year (1 September to 31 July)

2. broken down by age of suspect

3. and local authority area.

In Response:

I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

Searches were made on all offences recorded between 01/09/2018 and 31/07/2019 under Home Office code 008/27 - Having an article with a blade or point on school premises Crimes have been reviewed to establish the age of any named suspect.  The caveat should be noted that all the suspects have been named as part of the investigation but 14 of those named have since been eliminated from enquiries and 4 remain under investigation.

There are more suspects than crimes due to multiple named offenders on one crime.
