Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

The date, location (postcode or longitude and latitude) and outcome (i.e arrest, charge, not enough evidence) of every individual incident of modern slavery (Offence Code 106) recorded by your force for the calendar years 2016, 2017, and to date in 2018. 

In Response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention. 

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police. 

With the below in mind, I am able to disclose the located information to you as attached. 

All crimes created between 01/01/2016 and 28/05/2018 which fall under PSGroup3 Modern Slavery are included. Below are a list of the Home Office codes this covers; 

036/06 Hold person in slavery or servitude

036/07 Require person to perform force or compulsory labour

036/08 UK national arrange or facilitate the travel of another person with a view to exploitation

036/10 Commit offence other than kidnapping or false imprisonment with intention of arranging travel with view to exploitation

036/11 Commit offence of kidnapping or false imprisonment with attention of arranging travel with view to exploitation

036/12 Do act prohibited by slavery and trafficking risk or prevention order

036/13 Fail to comply with requirement to surrender passport under Modern Slavery Act 2015

036/14 Fail to comply with requirement to provide name and address under Modern Slavery Act 2015 

Additionally to note, as some investigations are still on-going and are of a serious nature, the information has been provided in such a way to avoid exemptions being applied.  Namely, S40(2) Personal Information, Section 30(1)(a) investigations and Section 31(1)(a)(b) Law Enforcement.
