I request the number of motor vehicle offences committed in your force area by suspects aged 18 and under for the last 5 years (if the data is held in financial years I am content to receive that, if not calendar years please), specifically the offences of
- Aggravated vehicle taking
- Theft of a vehicle
- Causing death by aggravated vehicle taking
- Taking a vehicle without consent/ unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle
- Interfering with a vehicle
- Theft from a vehicle
Please provide the total figures and a breakdown by year and age group in each offence category

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows with the below caveats noted.
This breakdown includes anyone listed against vehicle crime as the following:
- Accused
- Decision Pending
- Unknown Status
Only the specific crimes requested in the initial FOI have been counted here. These are:
- 037/01 Aggravated taking where, owing to the driving of the vehicle, an accident occurs causing the death of any person
- 037/02 Aggravated vehicle taking
- 131/01 Aggravated Taking where the only aggravating factor is Criminal Damage of ú5,000 or under
- 048/01 Theft of motor vehicle
- 048/02 Taking a motor vehicle (local sub-code for TWOC)
- 130/01 Custody Code - Unauthorised taking or driving of a motor vehicle (custody code)
- 045/10 Stealing from motor vehicles
- 126/00 Interference with motor vehicle
- 825/06 Tampering with motor vehicles
