Newcastle Airport Arrests - 988/19

Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

  1. The number of persons arrested for sexual assault at Newcastle Airport in the year 2018 and in the year 2019 to date with details of each offence. Of the number of persons arrested, the number that were charged with the offence, charged and released on bailed, and released with no further police action.
  2. The number of persons arrested for sexual assault on an aircraft in the year 2018 and in the year 2019 to date with details of each offence. Of the number of persons arrested, the number that were charged with the offence, charged and released on bailed, and released with no further police action.
  3. The number of persons arrested for drunkenness at Newcastle Airport in the year 2018 and in the year 2019 to date with details of each offence. Of the number of persons arrested, the number that were charged with the offence, charged and released on bailed, and released with no further police action.
  4. The number of persons arrested for drunkenness on an aircraft in the year 2018 and in the year 2019 to date with details of each offence. I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

1. Nil

3. 2018 – 1 - male whilst on aircraft is drunk and acting in a disruptive manner to crew.

2019 – 1 - male during flight  is drunk and acts in an aggressive; threatening and disruptive manner.

2018 - arrest – Postal requisition.

2019 - arrest – charged.

Male boards jet aircraft  having consumed a quantity of alcohol to render him drunk in the aircraft.

Male consume unknown quantity of alcohol on board aircraft; rendering him drunk inside aircraft.

Male enters aircraft as passenger; having consumed alcohol to render him drunk on board the aircraft.

Male on an aircraft  is drunk and acting in a disruptive manner.

Male consumes so much alcohol that he is drunk and disruptive upon coming in to land.

Offender drinks bottle of champagne and becomes drunk.

Female is unable to fasten her own seatbelt due to intoxication and swears at cabin crew
