Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
You asked:
Please can you tell me the number of offences reported to the force in which GHB (gammahydroxybutrate) is believed to have been a direct or indirect factor in each of the last three years for which figures are available?
Please provide as much detail as possible about the outcomes in the cases i.e. whether there was a prosecution and a conviction or acquittal.
In Response:
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
To note – last three years has been taken to be 2017 – 2019.
Searches have been based on a keyword search for " GHB " and "gammahydroxybutrate" - if a crime does not include these terms in the MO field, it will not be included in this result.
There was one case in 2019 - this was an allegation of rape. The victim of this could not be confirmed or traced.
