Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
You asked:
- Does your force have an online system for reporting crime? If yes, when was the online system implemented?
- If you do have an online system for reporting crime, what categories of crime are the public able to report (please list the categories as they appear on the website)?
- Does each crime report submitted online directly generate a record of a crime? If not what are the steps to a crime record being created?
- Does each crime report submitted generate a call-back requirement for the force?
- How many crimes have been reported online in the three years 1st April 2016 to 31st March 2019 or for the period since the online reporting system was launched. (Please break down the number of crimes reported by calendar month)
In Response:
- Yes - 1st November 2009. To note - we cannot categorically say that members of the public only use this service to report a crime as they can navigate the system to report non crime matters.
- Any type of crime can be reported, NP do not have a category framework.
- No - Primary Investigation Officers will review the on-line report, create an incident and crime where applicable.
