As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

The number of physical and verbal assaults targeted at your police officers in the past 10 years. Can you please record this information in calendar years.

In Response:

I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

This data has been collated by searching for all recorded offences with a relevant HO code, where the 'assault police' flag was checked and where the method/means has been marked as 'ASP' (assault police).

We cannot split the total between physical and verbal assaults.
