Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

Please can you provide the following information for the calendar years 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021:

1. The number of "revenge porn" crimes – 008/71, disclosure of private sexual photographs and films with intent to cause distress – logged by the force in each year

2. Of these, how many fell into the following victim age groups: under 18, 18 to 25, 26 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 and over

3. How many had a type 1 outcome ("Charge / Summons")

4. How many had a type 14 outcome ("Evidential difficulties: suspect not identified; victim does not support further action")

5. How many had a type 15 outcome (Evidential difficulties: suspect identified; victim supports action")

6. How many had a type 16 outcome ("Evidential difficulties: suspect identified; victim does not support further action")

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you with the caveat notes as follows.

• Please note that the data has been presented in such a manner as to avoid the application of exemptions relevant under the Act (Section 40 – Personal Information) to withhold due to low numbers, and these will not be broken down further.
