Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

I would like to request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000: a breakdown of the number of cautions, arrests and convictions for the following offences in each year from 2009 to 2018 within the city of Newcastle:

  1. Persistent loitering or soliciting in a street or public place for the purpose of prostitution.
  2. Soliciting in a street or public place for the purpose of obtaining a sexual service.
  3. The payment for sexual services of a sex worker subjected to force, threats or coercion.
  4. Causing or inciting prostitution for gain.
  5. Controlling prostitution for gain.
  6. Keeping a brothel.
  7. Landlord letting premises for use as a brothel (Section 33 of Sexual Offences Act 1956).
  8. Tenant permitting premises to be used as a brothel (Section 34 of Sexual Offences Act 1956).
  9. Tenant permitting premises to be used for prostitution (Section 35 of Sexual Offences Act 1956).

2014 - Controlling prostitution for gain x 1 - charged

2015 - Causing or inciting prostitution for gain x 13 - charged,  1 - simple caution

2017 - Persistently soliciting a person or persons for prostitution from, or having just left a motor vehicle x 1 – charged

2018 - Causing or inciting prostitution for gain x 1. NFA
