Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1. How many shoplifting reports has there been in the period between January – August (up to 21/08 2022) Broken down month by month.

2. How many reports of shoplifting were made in 2021 (Jan-Dec)? Broken down month by month.

 

In Response:

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you with the caveats noted as follows:

• As shoplifting is a notifiable offence we have taken 'shoplifting reports' to mean shoplifting crimes, and it is those figures which we have provided.

• The HO code used to search for the crimes: 046/00 Stealing from shops and stalls (shoplifting).

• The data supplied for August 2022 is to 21 August 2022.
