Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

Please could I have the figure for number of people detained and questioned by your force because of offensive online messages.

i) Could I have figures for 2015 (01 Jan - 31 Dec), 2016 (01 Jan - 31 Dec), 2017 (01 Jan - 31 Dec), and 2018 (01 Jan - Current Date)

ii) Please could I have the outcome of the investigation (was it dropped, or were prosecutions brought, for example), if available.

iii) Please could I have the locality of the individual involved to the narrowest level without breaching section 40 of the FOI act (for example, local authority if held would be fine)

In Response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
