Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

  1. The number of arrests in relation to Synthetic Cannabinoids from 14th December 2016 to the 14th December 2017 (Calendar Years).

Please split the arrests between supplying, production to supply, possession without intent, possession with intent to supply, importation, and possession in a custodial institution.

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention. 

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police. 

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows. 

Data has been collated through a search of all arrests between 14/12/2016 and 14/12/2017 for the below offences. 

092/22 Drugs Production or being concerned in the production of a controlled drug class B – Synthetic cannabis

092/42 Drugs Supplying or offering to supply a controlled drug Class B - Synthetic cannabis

092/62 Drugs Having possession of a controlled drug class B – Synthetic Cannabis

092/82 Drugs Possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply Class B - Synthetic cannabis

093/22 Drugs Permitting premises to be used for unlawful purpose - Synthetic cannabis 

These are all offences where 'synthetic cannabis' forms part of the offence description. 

The number of charges was established through a search of the disposals issued to persons for the above offences between 14/12/2016 and 14/12/2017. This search returned no results.
