Thefts From Sheds & Outbuildings - 130/22

Date Responded 21 February 2022

Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

We’d like to know any 2021 (or nearest up-to-date data) on

  1. the number of thefts from sheds and outbuildings in the UK,
  2. value of possessions stolen and,
  3. the most valuable items stolen from sheds.

After we sought clarification you provided the following:

Ideally we’d just like a total number of break-ins that took place on sheds or outbuildings. We’d just put thefts and burglaries in these settings together.  In terms of item value, if you could supply just the most valuable item that would suffice.

In Response:

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

You should note we are unable to provide data for the whole of the UK, if this is required you would need to contact all forces.  The information provided is only that as held by Northumbria Police.
