Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

  1. The total cost of compensation payouts to suspects knocked off mopeds/scooters by police vehicles during a pursuit in the 2019-20 and current financial year to 24/08/20. If possible, please break this list down by individual incident, including a description and cost.
  2. The total cost of repairs incurred from the wrong type of fuel used for police vehicles in the 2019-20 and current financial year to 24/08/20. If possible, please break this list down by individual incident, including a description and cost.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Legal and Fleet Departments of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held, in part, by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

  1. No information held.  There have been no Road Traffic Collision civil claims brought against the Force by suspects knocked off mopeds/scooters by police vehicles during a pursuit in the 2019-20 or current financial years therefore, there has been no compensation paid.
  2. 2 x July 2019 - £175 - each vehicle – Refuelled with petrol in error

1 x Jan 2020 - £175 - Refuelled with petrol in error

1 x June 2020 - £175 - Refuelled with petrol in error

1 x July 2020 - £55 - Refuelled with petrol in error
