Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

This is an information request relating to purchases of LGBT merchandise, visits to LGBT pride parades, and the wrapping of police vehicles in rainbow decorations

Please include the information for each of the following periods; 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22:

1. Annual purchases of LGBT+ merchandise (for example, rainbow flags, bunting, lanyards, wristbands, stickers, balloons, pins) including the total quantity of LGBT+ merchandise purchased and the expenditure. Please provide a breakdown of what was purchased

2. Annual expenditure on wrapping police vehicles in rainbow decorations and the number of vehicles wrapped. Please provide pictures if possible

3. Whether or not the police force has attended any Pride events in the mentioned financial years, including which events

4. the number of officers which attended the events,

5. and how much was spent attending each event
After we sought clarity as to what was to be provided at point 5 you advised – The cost of any tickets, The cost of any stands or stalls for the event

In Response:

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the relevant Departments and Area Commands of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held in part by Northumbria Police.
