Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

  1. Could you please tell me the number of employees, that have the job description of "Data Scientist" including higher managerial and trainee positions related to a data science role.
  2. If you could also supply the number of general analyst roles that use data to inform policing decisions that would be most appreciated.
  3. By policing decisions I mean relating to predictive work that informs police officers on where and when to patrol when on the "beat" so to speak.

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the HR Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held in part  by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

  2. We have an Actual FTE of 33.69 Analysts that were deemed to be relevant to your request.
