Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

  1. How many staff sick days have been mental health related between 1st August 2018-1st August 2019?
  2. What is the total number of staff sick days for your force/constabulary between 1st August 2018-1st August 2019?

After we sought clarity you confirmed that by ‘staff’ you actually referred to both police officers and support staff.

In Response:

  1. A total of 14,048 days have been lost to mental health related absences for all officers and staff during this period.
  2. A total of 41,429 days have been lost for all absences for all officers and staff during this period.
