Date Responded 15 May 2020

Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

  1. How many Rest Days are owed to Constables, Sergeants, Inspectors and Chief Inspectors in your force?
  2. How many rest days were cancelled in total during 2019?

Can you please supply this information as of 1 January 2020?

In Response:

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the People Services Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

  1. Re-rostered Rest Day (RRRD) balances as at 1 January 2020:

2. Northumbria Police records Rest Days that have been re-rostered (RRRD) but does not specifically identify whether these have been as a result of a cancelled Rest Day (i.e. for a Force Event) or moved and re-rostered (i.e. for Training Courses or Court Duty) – they are all recorded as RRRDs.  The data below shows all RRRDs recorded during 2019 including, but not exclusively, cancelled rest days.  There may also have been historic adjustments added in 2019 which relate to the previous year which will also be included in the below figure.

RRRDs recorded in 2019 = 19,087.

If you decide to write an article/use the enclosed data we would ask you to take into consideration the factors highlighted in this document so as to not mislead members of the public or official bodies, or misrepresent the relevance of the whole or any part of this disclosed material.
