Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

Could you please provide the annual number of dedicated wildlife officers Northumbria Police has had from 2009-2019.

In Response:

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Peoples Services Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

2009 - 1

2010 - 1

2011 - 1

2012 to 2019 – no dedicated Wildlife Officers

From April 2009 to November 2011 there was one dedicated member of Police Staff carrying out the role of ‘Planning & Wildlife Officer’.  Following this, the function was absorbed into other roles within the force and officers receive relevant wildlife liaison training where necessary.
