Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

  1. How many raids were carried out by Northumbria Police on suspected brothels in 2017, 2018, 2019?  If possible, can you give the city, town or county where the raid took place.
  2. How many people were arrested by Northumbria Police on suspicion of keeping a brothel in 2017, 2018, 2019?
  3. How many violence against the person cases were reported to Northumbria Police where the alleged victim is a sex worker in 2017, 2018, 2019?

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the relevant Departments of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

  3. It should be noted that the figures below were extracted by using the keywords ‘prostitute’ and ‘escort’ in the occupation details of the victims.  It is therefore possible that these results are inaccurate as the occupation field is not an accurate measure of information.
