Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

  1. Since 1st January 2015 until 31st December 2019, have you used infra-red (IR) illumination equipment in the search for blood at scenes of crime?
  2. If yes to question 1, please state the number of cases that IR illumination was used in each year:
  3. Of these cases, please specify the type of offence e.g. murder, sexual offence, armed robbery, burglary etc.

In Response:

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Crime Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is not held by Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that Northumbria Police have not utilised infra-red illumination to search for blood at a crime scene during the dates specified by your request
