Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1 On how many occasions since body worn video has been introduced at your police force have there been faults with the system e.g. cameras not working as they should, problems with downloading the footage. Please specify the nature of the fault in each case and include any comments an officer has made about the incident

How many body worn cameras the force has.

Please also state how much the force has spent on body worn cameras

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Business Support Department and Area Command of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

  1. We can only comment on faults/repairs to cameras.  Since purchase we have recorded 423 repairs.

89  - damage to outer casing

110 - power/battery issues

24 - technical issues

2 - sound issues

25 - Unknown
