Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

I write to request information pertaining to Ferndene NHS Trust Hospital in Prudhoe, Northumberland:

  1. Could you please provide information on how many times the Police force have been notified of abscondes from the facility since Jan 2010
  2. How many times they have to deploy officers to detain and return abscondes from this facility since Jan 2010.

In Response:

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted within the Northern Area Command of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information with the caveats to follow noted:

  • This data comes from a specific search on the premise of Ferndene Hospital.
  • It only includes those incidents where the absconder has left from Ferndene Hospital, not if they were on authorised leave and absconded from elsewhere.
