Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
- would it be possible to get the fleet list for the year 2000 including make/model of vehicles, assigned departments, roof code, registration plate.
- like wise as the first request but for the year 2003.
- what year did northumbria area code change from "28" to "10"?
- could I please get the roof codes for the following registrations.
We shall not be offering a response to your request as we have deemed it frivolous and of no real purpose.
The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) defines frivolous requests as ‘The subject matter is inane or extremely trivial and the request appears to lack any serious purpose. The request is made for the sole purpose of amusement.’ It would appear that your request lacks any tangible benefit to the general public and merely seeks to take advantage of the Act for your personal records. This is clearly not in the spirit of the Act and disclosure can therefore be legitimately resisted.
It is not in the public interest to take officers or staff away from their day to day duties in order to seek out information relevant only to you to assist in your hobby. This is particularly relevant in the current situation we find ourselves in regarding the Coronavirus pandemic.
It is my view that this request lacks any serious purpose and I am therefore refusing your request under Section 14 (1) Freedom of Information Act 2000.
