Date Responded 23 March 2020

Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

  1. The number of police stations closed since 2010 in your force area and their locations
  2. Proceeds gained from sales of former police stations assets, and their locations
  3. For the police stations that remain open in your force area, please also provide the front counter opening hours in 2010, and their locations.
  4. For the police stations that remain open in your force area, please also provide the front counter opening hours and in 2020 for each, and their locations.

In Response:

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

With regards to points 1, 2 and 4 the below exemption is applicable.

As the information you have requested is accessible by other means I have not provided you with a copy of the information and will rely on Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.  You should therefore consider this a refusal for your request.

I have provided an explanation to this exemption below.

Section 21 (1) - Information accessible by other means

Information which is reasonably accessible to the applicant is exempt information

Point 1 and 2 has been asked for previously, disclosed, and the information is published on the Northumbria Police Disclosure Log.  FOI 946/19 refers.  This is still relative to your request.

With regards to point 4, this information is again freely available via the ‘find your local station’ page of the website.

With regards to point 3 I respond as follows:

In 2010 these were the opening hours for front offices in Northumbria,  for those which currently remain open to the public.  Some of the locations have changed from police stations to neighbourhood bases.
