Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

  1. The total number of police stations located within the boundaries of the force for each of the years 2008-2021
  2. The total number of police stations closed
  3. and counters closed 2008-2021

In Response:

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Estates and Operational Departments of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

 

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

1-2.  Please see the attached document.  For accuracy this advises on actual closures and those instances where stations were relocated.

3.  2008 the force had 27 front counters open to the public.

In 2017 this reduced to 24.

As a direct result of COVID-19 between March 2020 – September 2021 the number of front counters was temporarily reduced from 24 to 10.

From September 2021 the number of front counters was permanently reduced to 9.

The figures provided therefore are our best interpretation of relevance of data to your request, but you should be aware that the collation of figures for ad hoc requests may have limitations and this should be taken into account when those data are used.
