Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
You asked:
I am aware that ''closed'' Police personnel files are stored at Woodhorn Archives, Ashington and the file remains ''closed'' until 70 years after the last entry on the file.
Woodhorn have advised me that since 2008, they have received 12 requests for access to closed Northumberland Constabulary/Northumbria Police personnel files and out of these 12 requests, Northumbria Police have declined 3 of them.
Could you please confirm, under the FOI Act, that 3 requests have been declined and 9 requests allowed
In Response:
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Information Management Unit of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is not held by Northumbria Police. Any such requests are dealt with on a case by case basis and we do not retain them.
